International Moving Process
The International Moving Process
1. Survey
Once you contact us, we will arrange a pre-move survey. This is where one of our professional surveyors visits your home to calculate the volume of your household goods. All our surveyors are highly experienced moving specialists. They have worked in the removals business for many years and have a high degree of industry knowledge.
The surveyor will spend time explaining the moving process in detail. They will use a laptop presentation to show you how our packing process works and what you can expect from our removals crew.
During the survey, they will walk around your home with you, making a detailed inventory of the items you wish to move. Based on this inventory, they will estimate the weight and volume of your goods. This allows us to give you an accurate quote.
You will receive one of our moving guide brochures, with details of customs restrictions (depending on your destination, there may be items that you cannot ship). The brochure will also give you details of our Transit Cover, which you may like to take out to protect you against the risk of goods being damaged in transit.
Both the surveyor and your moving coordinator will be able to talk you through any paperwork you need to fill out. They can also explain storage options in case there is anything you do not wish to move.
2. Quote
The surveyor will pass their calculations and inventory onto our moving team. You will be assigned a dedicated move coordinator, who will send you a letter introducing themselves and a quote.
You can contact your coordinator with any questions you may have regarding the quote or the removals process. They can also advise you on filling out the necessary paperwork, or taking out the Transit Cover.
If you then choose to move with us, your coordinator will discuss your moving date with you and will book a packing day with our trained crew.
Your coordinator is here to help throughout the entire moving process. They will keep you fully informed of all key dates and will support you at every step.
Our packing crew will arrive at the date and time agreed upon. On arrival, the crew and foreman will introduce themselves, and walk through your home with you, so that you can go over what needs to be packed, and point out anything particularly fragile.
After laying protective coverings on floors, the crew will pack your belongings using expert wrapping techniques and tailor-made packing materials to minimize movement and therefore damage during transit. Our foreman will prepare a computerized inventory of all items and will label each item with a bar-coded label as well as basic information about your move. Each item packed will be documented and signed as a receipt for the belongings being shipped.
Packing materials and storage containers – keeping your possessions safe
Wrapping: We use 6 ply (as opposed to the standard 4 ply) padded blankets, and a range of other specialized packing materials to protect your belongings during shipping.
Custom-made cartons: We have a range of custom-made storage containers for fragile or bulky items, for example:
To us, everything you own is priceless. Our crew members are very experienced movers, and will take the utmost care with all your possessions. By listing their initials on the inventory, they even take personal responsibility for every box they pack.
3. Transportation
Depending on where you are moving to, your goods will either be transported by road, sea or air. We’ll track each stage of your move in our database, so your moving coordinator will be able to talk you through likely transit times, and keep you informed at every step.
4. Customs clearance and delivery
When your belongings arrive at your destination country/city, they’ll be collected by one of our trusted destination partners. We expect the same high standards from our partners as we do from in-house staff, and thoroughly assess them on strict criteria to make sure they deliver the sort of service that we know you expect.
We handle everything for you at your destination. This includes customs clearance and delivering your belongings to your new home as well as final unpacking to the rooms of your choice.
5. Unwrapping at your new home
Once our partner has delivered your goods, they will unpack it for you on a flat surface. They’ll even take away the packing materials for recycling when available.
Your coordinator will keep you up-to-date with transit schedules and times, and will tell you which of our partners will collect and deliver your possessions to your host country address.
We take the hassle out of an international move, so you can focus on having an enjoyable journey to your new home.
