Eight Things to See and do in Dubai

If you’re in Dubai as a tourist on vacation, visiting family, or planning to move to Dubai from Canada and are exploring your new home as an expat, there is plenty to do and see. Below we’ll provide a list of some of the most popular attractions that draw in thousands of tourists each year and a few hidden gems to make you feel more like a local.

Sky High at Burj Khalifia

Dubai is home to the world’s tallest building, a feat that was inaugurated in 2010 and took 22 million person-hours to build. In addition to being the tallest building worldwide, it also houses a magnificent boardwalk, art galleries, restaurants, and a mall to help you with your souvenir shopping. The boardwalk also allows access to the famous Dubai Fountain, situated at the base of Burj Kahlifia and shoots water up to 500 feet high during daily performances orchestrated to music.

Get Framed

If unusual architecture is exciting to you, visiting Dubai will not disappoint! This relatively new cultural landmark “frames” your view Old and New Dubai, simultaneously. Launched in 2018, the 150-metre-high and 95-metre-wide structure looks like a picture frame where you can see newer landmarks like Emirates Towers and Burj Khalifa on one side and older parts of Dubai like Deira and Karamara. The frame holds a Guinness World Record as the globe’s largest picture frame.

Cool off at Atlantis Aquaventure Waterpark

Dubai parks do big right, and that includes amusement facilities and theme parks. Atlantis Aquaventure Waterpark has 105 waterslides for adventurous thrill seekers. It also boasts opportunities for people to get close to dolphins, sea lions, sharks, and stingrays. Those who want more contact with aquatic animals can visit Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo.

Ski Dubai

Have you ever been skiing in the desert? Maybe it’s time to check that item off your bucket list. Located inside Dubai Mall of Emirates, this indoor ski facility offers lessons and practice space for novices and ten ramps for experienced daredevils.

Dubai Marina

This marina will provide you with 3KM of access to the shoreline. Offering a brilliant view day and night, you can enjoy looking at the luxe hotels and shopping malls during the day and the lit skyline at night. This area is enjoyed by locals, expats, and tourists alike.

Al Seef

Visit the old Dubai of yesterday in the markets of Al Seef. This market showcases the roots of United Arab Emirates mixed with modern cafes like Starbucks for all to enjoy. The shops and restaurants are located in laneways that are lit up at night, making it a popular evening destination.

Kite Beach

Kite Beach looks like a postcard with white sand, blue sky and sea, and colourful kites brightening up the sky. The beach is close to many restaurants. Families and tourists rave about the walking track and that there are affordable activities for kids. Got a social media profile? Kite Beach is one of the most “Instagrammable” destinations in Dubai.
